When I open messages in myspace from a friend's hacked account, can I get viruses?

Just wondering if when I open messages from friends that their accounts have been hacked and it is just spam mail being sent by their account, can it send a virus along with it? I know that some emails have been used in the past to transfer viruses from computer to computer, is that the case with myspace messages too? being that they are like emails? Just wondering because I just opened a bunch of messages from friends with a hacked account and hacked messages.

Thanks

No you can't get a virus. People on myspace get phished by putting their password into fake sights designed to look like the myspace homepage. Its just spam. Don't click on the add and then stupidly put your password into the sight that looks like myspace because then you will get phished too!

Tom wrote a blog all about it.

It's not being "hacked" because its a computer doing it.

it's been phished.

you'll see messages like: "hey i posted you image on this site: blahhh.com" you dont get viruses or anything really bad. especially just by opening them.

but if you reply to them then your homepage will tell you that you were phished too.

so if you see those kinda messages dont reply to them.
