Myspace hacked to add obscene comments?

So when you see on someones comment box that someone has added inappropriate comments or videos, obviously someone hacked into their system somehow. Does anyone know how they did this? Signing up for bs, giving their password out or what?

It's usually a program that is added to a friend request. When you click on the picture it will ask you to install a program to view the profile. When you do this you are adding a Trojan Horse Password Hijacker to get your myspace password. It's simple to fix. Just change your password.

well myspace is done with ASP.net its a language to create websites that also run scripts. Scripts are programs in a website. So they say for example CLICK HERE TO LAUGH. Once you do it might run a malicious code to gather your information like SAVED MYSPACE PASSWORDS on your computer ETC.

To correct some mis-information, chances are very slim that any actual software was installed to get your login information and it's even less likely that you or your account was "hacked" - what likely and often happens (my friend works at MySpace) is that you'll get a weird comment like the one your account is sending out and it'll look legit. You click it or are tricked into clicking something and you're taken to what looks like your MySpace home page, with one exception... It's asking for your login again.

What's really happening is that you've been taken somewhere else and it's made to look like MySpace. When you enter your info, they capture it and use it to send more of these posts and do other advertising related things.

This entire process is called Phishing - tricking you into giving your info away. If you use the latest Firefox or IE 7 browsers then they have ways of detecting such things that could help, but it's better just to use common sense.

Hope that helps.
